Kinsley/Macksville splits twin bill

KINSLEY – The Kinsley/Macksville baseball team delivered six extra-base hits to beat Pratt Skyline 14-4 to gain a split of Thursday’s doubleheader. Skyline won the opener 12-1. Several Macksville Mustangs travel 25 miles to play baseball with Kinsley in a co-op program.

KINSLEY 14, SKYLINE 4 (G2) – Kinsley’s Kendall Grippin doubled and drove three runs to pace the Coyotes. Woodrow Lancaster drove in two runs. Cason Lemuz homered and drove home two runs. Diego Esparza and Conner Chamberlain also drove in runs for Kinsley (2-4).

Grippin struck out six batters and worked 32/3 innings to earn the victory. Esparza and Lancaster combined for 21/3 shutout innings.

SKYLINE 12, KINSLEY 1 (G1) – Skyline’s Griffin Wallace drove home three runs and Brayden Berens and Clayton Freeman each drove in two runs. Skyline pitcher Berens struck out five batters.

Kinsley’s Peyton Schmidt. Scored on a Lemuz sixth-inning sacrifice fly.

Esparza and Chamberlain doubled and Lancaster and Schmidt singled.

Kinsley returns six starters for coach Zac Stuckey.
