SALINA — Ellinwood ace lefthander Cohen Gunn was a hard-luck 5-4 loser to Salina Sacred Heart after he left after 107 pitches.

Salina Sacred Heart (11-5) shut out the Eagles 7-0 in the second game. The Eagles drop to 6-10.

SACRED HEART 5, ELLINWOOD 4 (G1) — Gunn (3-2, 0.90 ERA) ran out of pitches after a brilliant 12-strikeout performance with six walks that cost him. Gunn struck out 65 batters in 302/3 innings.

Gunn's final two batters drew walks to start a 2-run seventh inning. Cayson Ivey's single scored off reliever Cade Coleman Luke Koland with the tying run. Miles Wells scored on a Noah Hines single for the game-winner.

Trace Tudor's third-inning single scored Drake Hosman.

Four consecutive walks ignited the Eagles' 3-run sixth inning. Alvin Bowyer scored on Noah Herrman's walk. Coleman scored on Brady Brack's groundout. Shea Hoskins scored on a wild pitch for a 4-3 lead.

Knight pitcher Kolten Sprague (2-0, 0.58 ERA) threw two shutout innings.

SACRED HEART 7, ELLINWOOD 0 (G2) — Sacred Heart pitchers Graham Armstrong (2-2, 3.60 ERA) and Kolten Sprague combined for a 3-hit shutout.

Coleman doubled and Tudor and Hoskins singled for Ellinwood's hits.

Sacred Heart's Ivey drove home runs with a double and sacrifice fly. Miles Wells doubled home two runs.
