2A JOHNSON CITY

JOHNSON CITY —Ellinwood's returning state runner-up Drew Heinz earned medalist honors with a 1-under-par 71 to spark the Eagles (336) to the 2A regional golf championship at Prairie Pines Golf Course. Heinz (75) was 2A state runner-up last year at Emporia Municipal Golf Course. He placed 10th in 2021.

Teammate Mason Moore (78) tied for fourth medalist honors after placing 10th (81) last year.

Ellinwood's 14th-place Braden Lewis (86) and 33rd-place Alex Bowyer (101) also counted Monday.

LAKIN — Larned medalist Easton Fitzpatrick tied for medalist honors with a 7-over-par 77 at Lakin Country Club and joined teammate Talon Reynolds (80) in qualifying for the 3A state championship May 22-23 at Dodge City's Mariah Hills Golf Course.

Fitzpatrick placed 25th (83) and Reynolds (87) finished 39th in last year's 3A state championship at Salina Municipal Golf Course.

HAYS — Great Bend Panther Nash Lindberg birdied Nos. 16 and 18 for a 4-over-par 39 to battle into state contention at Smoky Hill Country Club after nine holes. However, Lindsberg carded a 20-over-par 56 on the front nine to finish with a 95 to miss qualifying by four strokes.

Last year's 5A state runner-up Ty Adkins of Hutchinson High (78) earned medalist honors. Salina South (353), Hutchinson (355) and Hays High (359) earned team berths at McPherson's Turkey Creek Golf Course May 22-23.
