Larned sweeps Halstead

HALSTEAD – Larned’s six-run rally sparked a sweep over Halstead 11-10 and 5-2 in Saturday’s Central Kansas League baseball doubleheader. Larned (9-4, 9-4 CKL) has won three consecutive CKL twin bills.

INDIANS 11, DRAGONS 10 (G1) – Larned scored six seventh-inning runs and held off Halstead’s rally. Jacob Grosfield scored on Brady Hope’s sacrifice fly. Jack Stelter’s single scored Eian Sanders. Dillan Smith scored on a hit batter. Stelter and Kaden Pontius scored on an error. Grosfield’s single scored Logan Erway for an 11-7 lead. 

Reliever Christian Murray struck out Austin Radke to preserve an 11-10 victory over the Dragons scored three runs.

Dillan Smith and Grosfield each drove home two runs. Hope, Stelter, Pontius and Erway each drove home one run.

INDIANS 5, DRAGONS 2 (G2) – Larned finally solved Halstead starter Chandler Drake for five runs in the final three innings. Larned reliever Stelter worked the final 42/3 innings.

Halstead led 2-0 after Kaleb Wise scored on a first-inning error and Carter Hiebert scored on a second-inning balk.

Larned’s Dillan Smith singled home Erway and Orth in a three-run fifth inning. Dillan Smith scored on Aidan Smyth’s single for a 3-2 lead. Pontius singled home Hope and Stelter scored on a seventh-inning error.
