LARNED — A miserable shooting night doomed Larned’s boys as they fell 45-22 to the Kinsley Coyotes in Monday’s Gene Keady Basketball Classic.

Kinsley grabbed a 11-7 first quarter lead but Larned battled back to take a 15-11 lead midway of the second quarter but that is when the bottom fell out as Kinsley went on a 12-0 run to lead at halftime, 23-15. Kinsley outscored Larned 34-7 the rest of the way.

Larned made 1 of 19 three-pointers and shot 21% from the field. The Indians failed to score in the fourth quarter for the second straight game.

“We’re so impatient,” said Larned coach Luke Steinlage. “We’re settling for the 3-point shot and not making them. When we ran our offense, we got good looks and scored. We’re inexperienced.”

Larned’s Carlos Ibarra and Luke Wilson netetd six apiece and Brayson Bird scored five. The Indians play Spearville Thursday.

Kinsley converted 16 of 38 field goals for 42%. Xavier Holguin scored 16 points. London Brokar added nine and Boris Peranovic put in eight.
