LARNED GIRLS 53, ELLSWORTH 52

LARNED — Larned's Jadyn Crosby jumped in the air, a celebration fitting for a game-winning 3-pointer that surprised Ellsworth 53-52 in Tuesday's non-league basketball game. 

Crosby's 25-foot 3-pointer hit the back of the rim and bounced six feet in the air and fell through the net after a perfect pass from Akielah Collins. The Larned girls and the crowd erupted in joy with the stunning victory. 

Larned's Collins (17), Abby Holt (13) and Crosby (12) scored in double figures.

Larned jumped out to a 16-9 first quarter lead. Ellsworth sliced a 14-point lead to 34-27 at halftime keyed by Alexis Moore. Ellsworth outscored Larned 14-7 in the third quarter for a 41-41 tie. 

Ellsworth led by as many as four points in the fourth quarter.  The Lady Bearcats made 14 of 25 free throws to 4 of 10 for Larned.  Ellsworth made 18 of 35 field goals (52%). Moore scored 13 points and Elyse Haxton scored 10.

Larned made 22 of 52 field goals (43%). Larned (2-5) plays Skyline Friday.
