Larned Legion splits twin bill

LARNED — Larned’s Kaden Pontius singled home Colin LaBouchardiere with the game-winning run for a 7-6 Legion baseball victory over Pratt. Pratt won the nightcap 13-11.

LARNED 7, PRATT 6 (G1) — Larned (3-3) trailed 5-1 before rallying in the final two innings. Pontius doubled home Luke Wilson and Mello Bryant singled home Pontius and Aidan Smyth in a three-run sixth inning.

Dillan Smith and Gavin Alvarez walked and moved into scoring position on Jacob Grosfield’s perfect bunt. LaBouchardiere singled home Smith and Alvarez scored on a balk for a 6-6 tie. Pontius’ single to right field scored the game-winner.

Pratt’s Zach Shanline scored and A.J. Arensdorf doubled home Jesus Acosta and Shanline for a 3-0 lead. Larned’s Logan Erway tripled home Bryant for a 3-1 score.

Pratt’s Koda Dipman scored on a sixth-inning error and Mathew Hook’s seventh-inning single scored Shanline for a 6-4 lead.   

PRATT 13, LARNED 11 (G2) —Larned contributed 10 walks, two errors and a hit batter to help Pratt build a 13-6 lead. Pratt’s Arensdorf, Beau Gilpin and Blake Coss each drove home two runs.

Larned scored three runs in the first and second innings. Smyth scored on a groundout and Wilson’s single scored Bryant and Smith for a 3-3 tie. Bryant singled home Grosfield and Smyth and Bryant scored on an error for a 9-6 score after two innings.

Larned sliced a 13-6 lead to 13-11 with a five-run fourth inning. Pontius scored on Erway’s sacrifice fly. Smith tripled in Smyth and Bryant. Smith scored on an error and Alvarez scored on a wild pitch for an 13-11 final.
