DODGE CITY — Larned’s Legion baseball team finished with a 2-2 record at the Dodge City Tournament. After beating Russell 15-0, Larned lost 9-0 to Buhler’s Junior Nationals.
LARNED 15, RUSSELL 0 — Larned’s Aidan Smyth threw 47 pitches in a one-hit shutout with five strikeouts. Gunnar Cline led the offense with three runs batted home.
Larned’s offense was a team effort as Dillan Smith, Logan Erway, Mello Bryant and Carlos Ibarra each drove in two runs. Colin LaBouchardiere and Gavin Alvarez each drove in one run. Larned scored 11 runs in the third inning.
BUHLER NATIONALS 9, LARNED 0 — Larned’s Smyth second start yielded five unearned runs as Larned’s defense committed three costly errors. Erway, Alvarez and LaBouchardiere singled.
Sam Elliott’s first-inning single scored Levi Atherton and Bradley Neill. Ryan Henderson scored on a groundout. Mason Lipford, Atherton and Henderson scored on second-inning errors. Henderson singled home Neill and Elliott scored on a bases-loaded walk for an 8-0 lead. Elliott raced home for Buhler’s ninth run.
