Larned sweeps No. 1 tennis titles

LARNED — Larned’s No. 1 singles Dalton Penka and No. 1 doubles Andrew Bright-Logan DeMond captured first place and the Indians won the Larned Tennis Invitational. Larned scored 24 points to beat Ellinwood (18).

Penka (3-0) defeated Ellinwood runner-up Caleb Robl 8-1 for first place and won 24 of 28 games. Bright-Demond (3-0) defeated Ellinwood’s Caleb Bookout-Brook Degenhardt 8-1 for first place and won 24 of 28 games. 

Salina St. John’s Adrian Cabildo defeated Ellinwood’s Landon Robl 8-4 for first place. Cimarron’s No. 2 doubles Clay Frink-Cody Frink defeated  Larned’s Britton Herrman-Joe Theis 8-7 (7-3) to earn first place in a tiebreaker for the second consecutive tournament.
