Upset-minded Indians face test

HOISINGTON — There is no chance that Hoisington football coach Zach Baird overlooks Larned (1-1) after the Indians shocked the Cardinals 29-22 two years ago. It’s Hoisington’s first home football game.
Hoisington TB Wyatt Pedigo gained 170 yards and passed the 3,000-yard barrier in a 40-13 win over Nickerson. Pedigo scored two receiving touchdowns and QB Mason Haxton completed TD passes to Hunter Morris and Avery Brewer. No. 1 state-ranked 2A Hoisington (2-0, 2-0 CKL) will be missing Riley Philbern after an injury last week.
Larned TB Mason Perez rushed for 88 yards and a score in a 26-18 loss to Hesston. Perez scored on 55- and 77-yard runs in week 1. QB Dillan Smith completed 18 passes for 169 yards with Luke Wilson and Braydon Lemuz catching TD passes two weeks in a row. Brock Skelton had 73 yards receiving.
OTIS-BISON (1-1, 1-0) at STAFFORD (0-2, 0-1) — Otis-Bison TB Logan Thille has gained 269 yards with four scores and QB Kaden Foust has rushed for 201 yards and three TDs. FB Bevan Gradig has gained 117 yards. Foust is averaging 81/2 tackles per game. Minneola gained 481 yards against Stafford.
ELLIS (0-2) at ELLINWOOD (1-1) — Ellinwood WR-RB David Hammeke scored five TDs, 88 yards rushing, 160 yards receiving , a 70-yard kickoff return, plus 12 tackles. QB Kyler Doll threw four TD passes in a 50-20 win over Sublette. Ellis QB Tegan Cain has passed for 365 yards and three scores. TB Konnor Pfeifer has gained 177 yards.
VICTORIA (2-0) at MACKSVILLE (1-1) — Macksville quarterback Ryan Kuckelman has rushed for three touchdowns and Michael Seward has gained 254 yards with three rushing touchdowns. Victoria QB Grant Schoenrock rushed for four touchdowns as the Knights gained 473 yards rushing in a 50-14 win over Central Plains.
CENTRAL PLAINS (0-2) at KINSLEY (1-1) — Kinsley has beaten St. John the past two years after a 44-42 victory. The Oilers have never started 0-2 in their brief history. Cole Lamatsch scored on a 70-yard kickoff return and Jacob Oberle scored on a 21-yard TD pass from Jerred Bieberle.
NESS CITY (2-0) at ST. JOHN (0-2) — St. John’s Andrew Miller returned two kickoffs for touchdowns and rushed for 136 yards in a 44-42 loss to Kinsley. QB Caden McCandless returned a kickoff for a score and led the Tigers with eight tackles. St. John is riding a 15-game losing streak. Ness City QB Jose Guzman rushed for two scores and threw two TD passes to Easton Seib in a 46-0 win over Macksville. RB Hector Rodriguez rushed for 153 yards.
PAWNEE HEIGHTS (1-1) at CHEYLIN (2-0) — Cheylin QB Colton McCarty is a one-man offensive show with 542 yards rushing and seven TDs and 216 yards passing and four TDs. WR Andrew Schields has 187 yards receiving and three TDs.
