LARNED — Larned pitcher Gavin Alvarez, Brady Hope and Jack Stelter held Hillsboro to one run in a 7-0 and 3-1 baseball doubleheader sweep. Larned (5-4, 5-4 CKL) plays Hoisington (6-6, 4-6 CKL) at home Friday.

INDIANS 7, HILLSBORO 0 (G1) — Alvarez preserved a shutout when he relayed a second-inning grounder by Tanner Parks to catcher Jack Stelter for a double play with the bases loaded. Stelter's single scored Aidan Smyth for a fourth-inning run. Alvarez struck out seven batters in a three-hit shuout.

Hillsboro pitcher Matthew Potucek yielded one run in the first five innings. But Larned put the opener away with a clutch six-run sixth inning following a 45-minute lightning delay. Ian Orth delivered the big hit with a two-run double that scored Kaden Pontius and Landon Erway. Brady Hope, Stelter and Pontius ripped RBI singles. Orth scored on a wild pitch.

INDIANS 3, HILLSBORO 1 (G2) — Kaden Pontius singled home Dillan Smith and Hope in a two-run first inning for the game-deciding base hit. Hope picked off Hunter Navat in the third inning and Potucek in the fourth inning. Stelter had three strikeouts in two innings.

Hillsboro's Franz Logan scored on Potucek's groundball in the sixth-inning. But Larned answered when Logan Erway singled home Stelter for a 3-1 lead.
