The Great Bend Braves are in the process of rescheduling Sunday’s doubleheader at Nickerson, which was postponed due to a lack of available players.
“We’re going to need to reschedule the games,” Braves head coach Jordan Metro said. “We had a lot of kids go to a basketball camp with the high school, so we didn’t have enough players to play.”
The Braves (6-8) will be heading into tonight’s doubleheader, which starts at 6, against Dodge City at Veterans Memorial Park just five days after getting swept by Dodge on the road.
Dodge City won the first game 7-5, and the second 7-6.
Metro said that in both games his team struggled in the first inning.
“We lost both games, but we won 12 out of 14 innings in the doubleheader,” Metro said. “In the first game, we scored three runs in the top of the first, but they scored five runs in the bottom. They ended up winning 7-5.
“In the second game, they went up 6-0 in the first inning. They scored their last run in the fifth, I think. We finished 7-6.”
On Friday, the Braves host Nickerson in a doubleheader at the City of Great Bend Sports Complex. The first game begins at 6 p.m.
