Chiefs to host pair of doubleheaders

The Great Bend Chiefs 19-U American Legion baseball team entertain Thomas More Prep-Marian (Hays) tonight in a doubleheader at Al Burns Memorial Field. The first game is set for 6.
The Chiefs are also at home on Wednesday, playing host to Dodge City in a doubleheader.
 
Picht throws
one-hitter

Former Barton Community College pitcher Keith Picht, who is playing for the Topeka Golden Giants, threw a one-hit shutout in beating the Kansas City Blues 5-0 on Sunday afternoon in the first game of a baseball doubleheader at Lake Shawnee in Topeka.
Picht gave up a single to lead off the game and then retired 20 batters in succession.
The Golden Giants (14-1) completed the sweep with a 7-1 win in the second game. Wichita State pitcher Zach Berringer tossed a five-hitter.
The Golden Giants are an independent wood bat team composed of college players.
