LYONS — Lyons enjoyed “13” as a lucky number as the Lions softball team swept Larned 13-12 and 13-9 in Tuesday’s Central Kansas League opener.
LYONS 13, LARNED 12 (G1) — Lynzi Myrick was stranded at third base on Kendra Grandy’s seventh-inning double that could’ve tied the score. Myrick doubled home Alea Makings and Shaylee Martin to spark a three-run seventh-inning rally. Makings doubled home Baylea Perez for a 13-10 score. Lyons pitcher Logan Griffit retired Ivory Muldrow and Abby Towery to end the game.
Shaylee Martin, Myrick, Nikki Taylor and Muldrow each drove home two runs.
Lyons’ Kayleigh Arriola and Griffit each drove home two runs.
LYONS 13, LARNED 9 (G2) — Larned lost a 6-2 lead when Lyons scored four consecutive third-inning runs on two walks and two hit batters for a 7-6 lead.
Dylann Procopio singled home Daci Stover and Brianna Russell for an 11-9 sixth-inning lead. Emily Robl’s double scored Procopio and Alex Keyes for a 13-9 lead.
Larned’s Kaylee Krehbiel drove in three runs and Myrick drove in two runs.
Robl and Procopio each drove home two runs.
