LARNED – Macksville outscored Hoisington 15-0 en route to a 56-42 championship victory over the Cardinals in the Gene Keady Basketball Classic finals.
It was perfect teamwork as Alvaro Ibarra scored five points, Hector Gomez and Rogelio Ibarra hit 3-pointers and Alexis Barron and Most Valuable Player Ryan Kuckelman hit 2-pointers for a 42-23 lead. The Mustangs hit eight consecutive shots. Gomez and Barron earned all-tournament honors. Macksville's Rogelio Ibarra scored 19 points.
All-tournament Bralen Thompson scored 16 points and Leyton Haxton added 12 points.
