HOISINGTON – Hoisington’s Moore was Mr. Everything as he rebounded, scored and directed traffic. Moore scored 22 points, grabbed seven rebounds with several steals and assists in a 45-35 Central Kansas League basketball victory over Larned.

Hoisington used a trapping half-court defense to frustrate Larned’s offensive flow and force turnovers that they converted into bonus points.

“We’re doing a lot of things well, especially defending,” said Hoisington coach Kyle Haxton. “We’re getting deflections, steals and causing quick shots. Its been fun.”

Rhen Galla scored seven of nine points in the fourth quarter for the Cardinals (10-8, 4-3 CKL).

Larned led 8-6 after the first quarter before the Cardinals led 18-13 at halftime that was 27-22 after three quarters. Moore helped the Cardinals pull away in the final six minutes.

“Moore is an athletic, skilled player,” said Larned coach Luke Steinlage. “He was a difference maker. We got shots that we wanted but we didn’t make a lot of them. We had too many turnovers. In a low-scoring, close game, you have to get points when you get good shots. We weren’t able to do that.”

Larned (2-16, 0-7) made 14 of 33 field goals for 42%. Carter Crosby, Ty Smith and Carson Shaver each scored seven points. Talon Reynolds converted two 3-pointers. Larned plays Pratt Friday.
