CENTRAL PLAINS 41, LITTLE RIVER 27 – Central Plains' Peyton Ryan scored 18 points with a trio of 3-pointers as the Oilers kept momentum heading to postseason with a solid 41-27 non-league basketball victory over Little River.
The Oilers outscored Little River 29-10 in the second half. Brodie Crites added eight points for the Oilers (16-4), who play Kinsley Thursday in substate play. Little River's Logan Renken scored 12 points.
"The first half was tough. The ball didn’t go in the hoop," said Oiler coach Michael Ryan. “The second half we really turned it around. I’m proud of the guys’ effort. Every game we are getting better and learning. Hopefully we can use some of the knowledge we have from these close games in postseason.”

LITTLE RIVER GIRLS 55, CENTRAL PLAINS 27 – No. 1 ranked 1A-Div. 1 powerhouse Little River accomplished a historic feat by roaring to a 55-23 lead to trigger a running clock against the Central Plains girls for the first time in Oiler school history.
Marilyn Soeken scored 11 points for the Oilers (14-6).
Little River (20-0) outscored the Oilers 24-7 in the third period. Adelynne Strecker scored 11 points and Arika Feldman and Aliana Eck added eight apiece. The Redskins converted eight of 23 on 3 pointers.
“I know I’ve mentioned it before, but I can’t fault these girls’ effort," said Oiler coach Pat Stiles. "They played their hearts out last night, and I’m always proud of them for that.”
The Oilers play La Crosse Friday in substate play.
