CENTRAL PLAINS GIRLS 95, LACROSSE 13

CLAFLIN – All-stater Emily Ryan scored 38 points as the Oilers rolled past LaCrosse 95-13 in Friday’s Central Prairie League basketball game. Ryan, who has 1,993 career points, contributed 10 steals, seven rebounds and 16 of 16 free throws.

Oiler Delaney Rugan scored 15 points and Avery Hurley and Rachel Lamatsch each scored nine points. Lamatsch had six assists. The Oilers converted 34 of 59 field goals.

The Oilers (18-0, 6-0 CPL) have swept 102 consecutive games after winning five straight 2A state basketball titles.

Ryan scored 29 first-half points as the Oilers led 54-0 in the second period. Kathryn Thielenhaus scored a basket for the Leopards’ first score.

CLAFLIN – Oiler Myles Menges led four players in double figures as Central Plains roared past LaCrosse 73-18 for its 44th consecutive basketball victory.

The Oilers (18-0, 6-0 CPL) also placed Brett Liebl (14), Alex Hickel (13) and Devin Ryan (12) in double figures. The Oilers had 21 assists and 19 steals. Central Plains led 29-3 after one quarter and 44-5 at halftime.

HALSTEAD – Halstead’s Karenna Gerber scored 18 points and Madison McClain added 14 points as the Dragons pulled away for a 41-27 Central Kansas League basketball victory.

Hoisington was within 33-27 when Halstead scored the game’s final eight points. Maleigha Schmidt led Hoisington with 11 points and Keeley Wolf added six points.

HALSTEAD BOYS 57, HOISINGTON 49 (OT) 

HALSTEAD – Halstead outscored the Cardinals 15-3 to steal an overtime Central Kansas League basketball victory.

The Dragons trailed 46-42, but tied the score 46-46 on Lakin Farmer’s free throw. Farmer missed two free throws and Andrew O’Brien missed a follow shot to win in regulation. The Cardinals committed turnovers on their final three possessions. 

Halstead’s Braden Gerber capped a 31-point night with six points in overtime. The Dragons made five free throws in the extra period to outscore the Cardinals 11-3. O'Brien grabbed 18 rebounds with six assists.

Hoisington (7-9, 2-4 CKL) was paced by Drew Nicholson with 15 points and Mason Haxton with 13 points. Nicholson and Xavier Robinson each had three steals.

OTIS – Ness City’s John Pfannenstiel scored 23 points and the Eagles converted 12 3-pointers to roll past Otis-Bison 87-50 in Friday’s Central Prairie League basketball game.

Ness City (14-3, 4-1 CPL) led 56-24 at halftime. Landon Reinhardt (18), Andres Rios (15) and Angel Guzman (12) scored in double figures.

Otis-Bison (10-8, 1-5 CPL) was paced by Maitland Wiltse with 17 points and Anton Foust and Luke Higgason with 10 points apiece.
