CENTRAL PLAINS GIRLS 91, OSBORNE 22

GREAT BEND – All-stater Emily Ryan scored 36 points as Central Plains roared past Osborne 91-22 in Thursday’s 1A Russell basketball substate. The Oilers earned their record-tying 107th consecutive basketball victory to tie Hoxie’s all-time record.

Ryan passed out eight assists and had eight steals. Oiler Delaney Rugan scored 17 points and Lexi Oeser added 12 points. Addison Crites contributed six steals and eight rebounds.

Osborne’s Ava Stull scored the game’s first basket for a stunning 2-0 lead. But the Oilers forced 35 Osborne turnovers with 27 steals for a 29-8 first-quarter lead and 53-12 halftime margin.

The Oilers (23-0) advance to Saturday’s 2 p.m. championship game against Atwood Rawlins County at the Kirkman Gym. Rawlins County beat last year’s 1A-Division 2 state basketball champion Quinter 44-31.
