WICHITA — Central Plains Oilers Brynna Hammeke/Kyla Metro were a tiebreaker away from playing for a 3-1A state doubles tennis championship. Salina Sacred Heart's No. 3 seeded Isabella Matteucci/Katherine Weiss outlasted the No. 2 seeded Oilers 4-6, 6-2, 7-6 (7-2) after losing the first set Saturday.

Hammeke/Metro (26-5) finished off a spectacular season with a hard-fought 2-6, 6-4, 6-3 third-place victory Saturday over Ellsworth's Jaycee Cunningham/Stephanie Soukup. Hammeke/Metro defeated Smoky Valley's Karik Elliott/Lena Rauchholz, 2-6, 6-4 (10-7) in a tiebreaker after splitting two matches during the season. Hammeke/Metro defeated Cimarron's Elizabeth Goetz/Emily Goetz, 6-0, 6-2 in the opening round.

No. 1 seeded Juliet Bartels/Emma Sand of KC Christian downed Matteucci/Weiss 6-4, 4-6, 6-4 in the doubles championship match.

Larned's Audrey Manry (29-4) finished off a solid season with an eighth-place finish after losing 9-5 to Shawnee Maranatha's Olivia Favero. Manry finished 2-3, beating Smoky Valley's Logan Spencer 6-2, 6-2 and Colby's Mackenzie Dodson, 9-2. She lost 9-2 to Kingman's Hannah Pierce and 6-3, 6-7 (8-6), (10-4) to Phillipsburg's Jacie Roth in a hard-fought quarterfinal match.

Salina Sacred Heart's Lily Perrin downed Kansas City Christian's Kiera Knoflicek 6-3, 6-2 in the singles championship.

Kansas City Christian (22) tied Salina Sacred Heart (22) for the 3-1A team title. Central Plains (8) tied Victoria (8) for fourth place.
