Oilers' doubles teams finish runner-up

ELLSWORTH – The Central Plains Oilers doubles teams lost in the first-place match at the Ellsworth Tennis Tournament. Ellsworth (52) finished first. The Oilers (34) placed fourth and Ellinwood (24) finished sixth.

Returning fifth-place state finishers Brynna Hammeke/Kyla Metro placed runner-up with a 8-4 loss to Smoky Valley's Karik Elliott/Lena Rauchholz at No. 1 doubles. No. 2 doubles Jennah Jeffrey/Lauren Oeser lost 8-2 in the finals to Ellsworth's Nicole Haase/Maggie Windholz.

No. 1 singles Ashlyn Armstrong placed eighth with a 8-4 loss to Smoky Valley's Logan Spencer. No. 2 singles Brooke Armstrong placed fifth with a 8-6 loss to Hutchinson Trinity's Isabelle Shank.

Ellinwood's No. 1 singles Wittney Hammeke lost 8-4 to Hutchinson Trinity's Harley Hughes for third place. No. 2 singles Daphne Doll lost 8-7 (7-2) to Trego's Kelsey Kinderknect for third place. No. 1 doubles Monica Hammeke/Madisyn Schlochtermier placed eighth with an 8-3 loss to Trego's Sydney Boyle/Shaelyn Cleland. No. 2 doubles Grace Haskins/Kiley Troyer placed sixth with an 8-3 loss to Ellsworth's Emma Salyers/Shylo Travnichek.
