Oilers’ Ryan remains unbeaten in singles

HOISINGTON — Central Plains Oiler Emily Ryan improved her record to 23-0 by winning Monday's Hoisington Invitational Tennis Tournament. 

No. 1 singles Ryan defeated Hoisington runner-up Jacquelyn Gonzalez, 7-0 for first place. Last year’s 3-1A state runner-up Ryan cruised to three wins without losing a game Monday. 

Central Plains tied Scott City for first place with 21 points and Hoisington placed third with 19 points.

Oiler No. 2 singles Zoe Potter (16-8) finished runner-up, losing 7-3 to Scott City’s Abie LeBeau.

Hoisington’s No. 2 doubles Brooke Steinert-Marta Vara Rodriguez finished with a 4-0 record, beating runner-up Brianna Hickel-Sarah Beran of Central Plains 7-3 for the championship. 

Scott City’s No. 1 doubles Yami Sanchez-Lenae Haupt edged Hoisington’s Emma Mooney-Bailee Bachar, 7-5 in the championship match.
