Oilers' tennis wins two divisions
Central Plains

ELLSWORTH – Central Plains Oiler No. 1 singles Peyton Ryan and No. 2 doubles Nethan Cauthon/Alden Metro placed first at Thursday’s Ellsworth Tennis Tournament.

Two-time state runner-up Ryan downed Wichita Classical’s Noah Doom 8-0 for first place.

Cauthon/Alden Metro edged Scott City’s Kade Bonville/Dante Franco, 8-7 (7-4) in a tiebreaker.

Wichita Classical’s Isaac Yourdon/Charlie Graham defeated Oilers Paxton Dody/Peyton Dody, 8-1 for first place.

Wichita Classical’s Ian Brown defeated Camden Stiles, 8-5 for first place.

“This was a tough meet. I’m proud of the way we handled adversity,” said Oiler coach Michael Ryan. “When things get tough we just have to battle. Every match prepares us for regionals.”
