WICHITA – Great Bend’s Bryce Moore (684) placed 11th to earn his second top 20 medal at Friday's 5A state bowling championship. Moore performed better each game with scores of 215, 223 and 246. Moore had previously placed as 5A state runner-up in 2018 (643).
Moore is a two-time Western Athletic Conference Bowler of the Year after averaging 221 this season. He placed 41st individually last year.
Great Bend Panther Corbin Stanley placed 24th at 655 (225/193/237) and Dalton Murphy finished 29th at 641 (254/166/221).
Sophomore Paige Wagner earned the eighth medal at 615 (242/188/185). Wagner was 15th medalist (529) last year.
Panther Lexy Fox achieved her goal with her third top 20 medal with a 17th-place finish of 557 (151/224/181). Fox had previously placed 15th (510), 20th (490) and 28th (459) while playing with the 2017 Great Bend state bowling champions.
The Great Bend girls finished sixth (2,900). Zues Garcia placed 35th at 515 (166/174/175); Nichole Griffin 45th at 498 (119/201/178); Aliyah Fryberger 48th at 489 (163/155/171); and Kristy Wittig 63rd at 452 (148/149/155).
The Panthers' 5A regional produced both 5A state champions as Salina Central (3,661) won the boys state title ahead of runner-up Salina South (3,601). Salina South's girls captured the girls 5A state title (3,212). Wichita Carroll's Blake Albers was 5A state champion at 766 (220/279/267). Andover Central;s Jadyn Barr, won the girls title at 703 (222/244/237).
