DODGE CITY – Great Bend’s returning state runner-up girl bowlers raced past Dodge City 9-2 to open Western Athletic Conference play.
Medalist Kaylin Wahlmeier shot a 625 series (172-215-238) and fourth-place Aliyah Fryberger shot 508 (167-202-139). Great Bend swept the three-game series 726-649; 718-709 and 685-654.
Dodge City edged the Great Bend boys 6-5 as the Panthers rallied to sweep all three Baker series game to keep things tight. Runner-up Caleb McNett fired high series (632) and high game (243) for the Panthers.
“We had two freshmen Quinten Miller and Darian Sherwood bowl very well,” said Great Bend coach David Feldbauer.
Dodge City won the three-game series 801-707 and 767-747 when the Panthers won the middle game 690-668.
