Panther golfer Streck wins Liberal title

LIBERAL – Great Bend Panther Cole Streck birdied four holes to spark a 2-under-par 69 that captured medalist honors at Tuesday’s Liberal Golf Invitational. Streck birdied Nos. 1, 8, 9 and 12 to fashion a 3-under-par front nine of 33. Streck earned 63 points to earn first-team All-WAC honors.

Panther Brantley Baldwin shot 1-under-par 71 to tie Garden City’s Aaron Allen for second place. Baldwin birdied Nos. 1, 6 and 12. The Panthers also counted eighth-place Scott Heilman (76) and 15th-place Cal Dunekack (83). Baldwin (44 points), Heilman (26.5 points) and Dunekack (17 points) earned honorable mention All-WAC honors.

Garden City (295) edged Great Bend (299) for first place at Willow Tree Golf Course. Garden City captured the WAC title and Great Bend was runner-up. Garden City's Theo Juhl (68 points) was WAC Player of the Year. Garden City coach Trenton Specht was Coach of the Year.

The Panthers compete at Monday’s 5A golf regional at Salina Municipal Golf Course.
