NEWTON – Ethan Somers (89) placed 37th to lead the Great Bend golf team (388) to 17th place at Thursday’s Newton Golf Invitational.

The Panthers also counted scores by 56th-place Nash Lindberg, 80th-place Jacob Hall (100) and 91st-place Cadin Spore (106).

Derby medalist Jaydon Carruthers (1-under-par 71) led the Derby Panthers to the team title (316) at Sand Creek Station Golf Course.
