HUTCHINSON – Great Bend’s Kasey Kennedy placed third in the 100-yard breaststroke (1:15.01) and the Panthers’ 200 freestyle relay and 200 medley relay placed third at Tuesday’s Hutchinson Swimming Invitational.
The 200 free relay (1:51.92) competed with Kennedy, Matthew Williams, Andrew McQuade and Adam Hall. The 200 medley relay (2:08.96) competed with McQuade, Williams, Kennedy and Hall.
Kennedy placed fifth in the 50 freestyle (26.14). Williams placed fifth in the 500 freestyle (7:30.26).
“We had big-time time cuts at Hutchinson. said Panther coach Kari Carper. “We've got a lot of new guys, but we’ve shown our improvement. We’re trying to find the combination of events that works for us.”
Returning state qualifier Kennedy is fighting health issues that prevents him from competing at 100 percent.
“Kasey takes every opportunity to help his teammates,” Carper said. “Our guys look up to him.”
The Panthers compete Thursday at Garden City.
