Panther tennis competes at Dodge City

DODGE CITY — Great Bend's No. 2 doubles Tania Molina/Sahara Rhiza won three of four matches to place fifth at Tuesday's Dodge City Tennis Tournament. Molina/Rhiza defeated teams from Hays and Liberal and downed Dodge City's Annicka Hernandez/Cait Pfaff, 6-4 for fifth place.

No. 1 singles Laura Daniel (1-3) placed sixth and Kaylin Wahlmeier (2-2) finished 10th. Liberal's Jacianna Rivera defeated Daniel 6-2 for fifth place. Meade's Karsen Jones edged Wahlmeier 6-4 for ninth place.

The Panthers' doubles tandem of Samantha Mayers/Taylor Lashley (0-3) lost 6-5 (7-2) to Meade's Lily Ritter/Holly Reimer for 11th place.

Garden City (70) swept the team title behind singles champion Brooke Ptacek, who beat Liberal's Katie Claussen, 6-2; and the doubles tandem of Sage Riggs/Sydney Nanninga over Dodge City's Becca Unruh/America Gamez, 6-2, 6-3.
