Panthers win two tennis divisions

Great Bend’s junior varsity tennis team featured two champions as No. 2 singles Mayci Craven and No. 2 doubles Sheridan Johnson/Paige Sanders placed first in the 6-team tournament.

Craven downed teammate Haylee Holinde 6-3 in the championship match. Johnson/Sanders defeated Hays High’s Tori Miller/Jadyn Younger 6-5 in the finals.

Larned’s No. 1 singles Isabella Bailey downed Great Bend’s Darcy Feist 6-3 in the championship match. At No. 2 doubles, Hays High’s Kaelin Maier/Alyse Zimmerman defeated Great Bend’s Kylie McCormick/MacKenzie LaViolette 6-3 in the finals.

Great Bend’s Black team scored 42 points to place first and Larned placed runner-up with 36 points. Great Bend coach Zachary Bartel had 16 Panthers competing in the junior varsity tournament in 95-degree temperatures.
