The Panthers wrote a fitting script for Great Bend's home swimming invitational Tuesday at the Barton Cougar pool.

Great Bend swimmer Josephine Mazouch enjoyed a perfect day with first-place finishes in the 50 freestyle (27.7) and 100 freestyle (1:01.82) while competing with the first-place 200 freestyle relay (1:54.02) and the 200 medley relay (2:11.01).

Mazouch achieved four first-places for the first time this season.

"Honestly, the relays are super fun. I felt really smooth swimming in the pool today," Mazouch said. "We switched our relays. It's fun to see what different combinations works for us."

She posted season-best times in her 50 freestyle and 100 freestyle.

"I cut time in both individual events today," Mazouch said. "I'm working on getting my times where I want them to be."

Last year’s Western Athletic Conference Swimmer of the Year Emilee Hall matched Mazouch’s feat with state consideration times wins in the 100 backstroke (1:09.82) and 500 freestyle (6:13.93).

Mazouch and Hall joined Darcy Feist and Meredith on the first-place 200 free relay. Mazouch and Hall teamed with Ava Gregg and Ally Howard on the winning medley relay.

Clarice Snapp won the 100 breaststroke (1:24.88).

Panther runner-up finishes were earned by Braylee Carper, 500 freestyle, 6:58.75; Howard, 100 butterfly, 1:28.7; and Feist, 200 freestyle, 2:25.17.

Great Bend’s girls scored 553 points to win the team title.

"It was a good day where the girls competed," said Great Bend coach Cortnea Wilson. "We're always working on improving. Our younger girls are improving and showing their hard work is paying off. Our veterans are doing a great job. We're working on finding the best relay combinations to work towards state qualifying times."
