BUHLER — Great Bend's defending 5A triple jump state champion Cooper Ohnmacht swept a trio of gold medals in the long jump (21-83/4), triple jump (44-1) and javelin (157-3) at Friday's Buhler Track Invitational.
Jumping conditions were ideal with a a high temperature of 64 degrees and light wind. Ohnmacht (46-3) is ranked first in the 5A triple jump and fourth in the 4A long jump (22-6).
"Cooper won three and competed well at a place that's hard to jump at," said Great Bend coach Lyles Lashley.
Panther Tavon Stroup earned a runner-up medal in the 3,200 meters (9:55.29).
"Tavon had a nice PR in the 3,200. He beat two runners who are in his regional," Lashley said.
Bella Long placed third in the 3,200 meters with a season-best time (11:55.0). The Panthers placed third in the 3,200-meter relay (10:10.59) with Reese Bullard, Kate Welcher, Brooklynn Kelly and Long.
"Bella ran a PR. The relay improved from 10:40 to 10:10, so they're headed in the right direction," he said.
