As usual, Great Bend sharpshooter Alex Schremmer ignited the Panthers' 3-point barrage.

By the time, the Panthers finished off an emphatic 71-38 rout over the Wamego Red Raiders, they'd delivered a school record-tying dozen 3-pointers Tuesday night.

The red-hot Panthers (10-4) are poised to challenge for a top four western record, which would earn a home 5A substate. The Panthers travel to Liberal for a Western Athletic Conference showdown Friday.

Schremmer drilled an opening 3-pointer to jump start the red-hot Panthers, who outscored the Red Raiders 36-12 from long range. Everyone joined the fun as Alex Olivas, Peyton Duvall, Ray Kuhlman, Dalton Miller and Sam Ryan knocked down 3-pointers. Every perfect pass led to another knockdown 3-pointer.

Great Bend struggled with Wamego's quickness in the first quarter for a 19-18 lead, but dominated the Red Raiders 51-20 the rest of the way. The Panthers blew the game open with a 15-0 scoring burst and Schremmer scored 15 points by halftime.

Schremmer led the way with 22 points with Alex Olivas (14), Dalton Miller (11) and Ray Kuhlman (10) scoring in double figures. Eight Panthers scored points. The Panthers converted 12 of 24 3-pointers and 24 of 50 field goals for 48 percent shooting.

The second half started the same way with a dominating third quarter. Six players scored points in the quarter for a 55-27 lead that eventually triggered a running clock with a 30-point lead.

Wamego (5-9) was paced by Tanner Hecht with 11 points, just two after the first quarter. The Red Raiders converted 15 of 42 field goals, 3 of 11 from long range.
