Panthers’ Luna breaks record
SALINA – Great Bend high jumper Valarie Luna continues to soar to new heights. Luna cleared 5-foot-7 on her second attempt to break her own school record of 5-61/2 at Friday’s Salina Central Track Invitational. Sadie Spray (5-4) placed runner-up.
Great Bend's girls (113) won the team title with Manhattan (86) placing runner-up.
The Panthers continue strong in the 1,600-meter relay with a first-place finish (4:09.92) with Spray, Makenzie Premer, Daizy Gomez and Kara Feist.The Panthers placed runner-up in the 3,200-meter relay (10:27.05) with Premer, Kate Welcher, Cassie Ellegood and Sienna Smith.
Macy Nachtigal won the javelin (129-4) with Kyndall Blessing (117-1) placing second. Other runner-up medals were earned by Premer, 300-meter hurdles (46.58); Sienna Smith, 800 (2:33.14) and Addy Nicholson, 3,200 (12:17.4) led a 2-3-4 finish with Marissa Boone and Morgan Beckwith.
Great Bend's Kaiden Esfeld set a career-best time with a victory in the 800 meters (1:57.48).
