ASHLAND 59, PAWNEE HEIGHTS 52
DODGE CITY – Pawnee Heights’ 6-Man Player of the Year Kade Scott nearly rallied the Tigers from a 26-point deficit.
Ashland held off the Tigers’ furious rally for a 59-52 football victory in the 6-man Wild West third-place game. Ashland led 26-0 and 32-7 before the Tigers rallied.
The victory wasn’t secure until Ashland’s Cody Lohrding recovered the Tigers’ onside kickoff.
Scott scored six rushing touchdowns and added touchdown passes to Jackson Henbest and Adam Hands. The Tigers outscored the Bluejays 39-27 after halftime.
Scott scored on runs of 4, 6, 9, 24, 47 and 65 yards, constantly disguising himself as a passer before running into space for big plays. Scott scored on 4- and 66-yard runs and completed a 16-yard touchdown to Hands for a 59-52 score.
Dalton Hamby delivered a big play after half when he tackled Gage Branson for a safety followed by Scott’s 9-yard touchdown pass to Henbest for a 39-28 score.
Ashland’s Branson scored three times and Gus Krier and Gage Brown each added two touchdowns.
