PAWNEE HEIGHTS 68, OTIS-BISON 45 – All-stater Alec Carlson worked his magic with a brilliant 37-point night to mix with Davin Hamby’s 18-point game in a 68-45 1A Ransom basketball substate victory. Carlson slammed home two dunks and converted 13 field foals and five free throws. The Tigers (15-6) qualify for the substate finals for the third consecutive year. 

Pesky Otis-Bison (2-20) played inspired basketball in their best effort of the season. The Cougars hit five 3-pointers and featured Hayden Morrison (11) and Kelson Juno (11) in double figures.

STAFFORD 62, WILSON 33 – Stafford’s Colson Minks was on fire with six 3-pointers and 24 points in a 62-33 victory over Wilson in the 1A Ransom basketball substate. Brody Kerschenke (14) and Dakota Rodriguez (12) scored in double figures. Stafford (16-5) earns a rematch with Pawnee Heights for the first state berth at Stafford since 1947.

MACKSVILLE 64, CENTRAL PLAINS 36  Macksville’s Rogelio Ibarra (15), Alexis Barron (12) and Lance Lickiss (10) scored in double figures for a Mustang team that averages four players in double figures. The Mustangs used effective half-court and full-court defense to force turnovers that led to easy transition baskets. The Mustangs (19-2) play Little River (17-5) for a state basketball berth.

Central Plains Oiler Peyton Ryan played solidly with a 15-point night and several assists. Ryan Hekele added 11 points.
