Swathers sweep Indian softball
HESSTON – Hesston squeezed out a 6-4 softball victory over Larned (2-4, 0-4 CKL) and completed the sweep with a 15-0 run-rule in Friday’s Central Kansas League doubleheader.
HESSTON 6, LARNED 4 (G1) – Larned pitcher Madison Wood kept the Indians within range.
Kenzie Reinert scored a first-inning run on an error. Kenzie Reinert scored the second Larned run on a third-inning passed ball.
Madison Reinert tripled and scored on Camryn Ettleman’s sacrifice fly and Maya Wilson scored on Teagan Walker’s sacrifice fly in the seventh inning.
Hesston’s Brenlyn Richmond drove in two runs. Kramer, Emma Gudeman and Elyse Griffin each had two hits.
HESSTON 15, LARNED 0 (G2) – Hesston pitcher Richmond struck out four batters and yielded a single to Maya Wilson.
Hesston (5-1, 3-1 CKL) scored nine first-inning runs and six second-inning runs. Richmond drilled a 3-run triple and drove home five runs. Griffin drove in three runs amd Gudeman drove in two runs.
