MACKSVILLE — The Macksville High School girls’ basketball team claimed victory in the first round of a Class 1A Division-I sub-state against Ashland on Monday night at The Stable.
The Lady Mustangs outscored the Lady Blue Jays 21-13 in the final quarter to put the game out of reach.
Megan Wood and Jena Clowers each had a double-double in the win.
Wood scored 20 points and grabbed 11 rebounds. Clowers scored 20 points and pulled down 10 boards.
Yasnaya Susoeff scored 13 points to join them in double figures.

Larned 57, Goodland 48
LARNED — Larned outscored Goodland 17-9 in the final eight minutes to score a first round Class 3A sub-state win on Monday night.
The Lady Indians were led by Brittanie Miller, who scored 20 points, including nine in the final period.
Amanda Haberman added 19 points and Brittney Perez put in 10 to round out the Larned players in double digits.
