WICHITA — Great Bend's girls bowling team will head to Northrock Lanes at the Class 5-1A state championship with confidence after a runner-up regional finish. The Panthers finished second with a score of 2,408 pins behind chmpion Salina South. The Panthers will compete at 2:15 p.m. Friday. The Panthers finished sixth in Class 5-1A with a score of 2,106.
Johanna Pfeifer was regional champion with a career best score of 696 (235, 202, 259). Pfeifer finished second in the Western Athletic Conference with a 545 score. Returning state qualifier Allie Brodrick finished third at 601 (216, 194, 201). Brodrick finished 12th last year at state (564) and was the Western Athletic Conference champion with a 546 score.
McKenzy Black finished eighth at regionals at 570 (190, 168, 212). Black placed fifth in the WAC and finished 51st at state (456).
Kylynn Keeler finished at 526 at regionals and placed 31st at state (496). Jordan Vsetecka shot 491 at regionals. Elsi Miller shot 471 at regionals and placed 59th last year (443).
Great Bend's Kameron Keener will compete in the boys Class 5-1A state tournament starting at 9:30 a.m. Friday.
