ELLINWOOD 37, KIOWA COUNTY 34
GREENSBURG — Brittney Beck drained the game-winning 3-point goal as the underdog Ellinwood girls stunned No. 5 state-ranked Kiowa County 37-34 in Tuesday’s Class 2A Greensburg basketball substate. Maddie Hayes' perfect screen set up Beck's shot with seven seconds left. A final 3-point attempt by Kiowa County's Sierra Lingafelter missed.

Madison Ward and Allison Panning scored 11 consecurtive ELlinwood points for a 34-34 tie after Kiowa County's Janessa Zenger tied the score at 34 with an inside basket. The Eagles outscored the Mavericks 15-4 in the final nine minutes.
Ellinwood (8-13) was paced by Allison Panning with 15 points and Ward with 14 points. Maddie Hayes had four steals. Brittney Beck dished out three assists. Ellinwood’s girls started the season 0-10 and finished in eighth place in the Gene Keady Classic, which was won by Kiowa County (17-4).

The Eagles play Kinsley (13-8) in Friday's semifinals at Greensburg. Ellinwood's late-season run featured a 49-45 upset victory over CPL runner-up Kinsley.

CLAFLIN — Oiler Janae Ryan converted a career high 3-pointers for 29 points as No. 1 ranked Class 2A Central Plains coasted past Pratt-Skyline 86-16 in the Greensburg basketball substate.
The Oilers (21-0) led 37-4 after one quarter and 61-4 at halftime. Emily Ryan scored 21 points and Cassidy Crites added 12 points.

BELOIT — No. 3 seeded Beloit broke the game open with a 27-point third period that doubled the Trojans’ score for a 69-38 rout over Hoisington in the Class 3A Russell basketball substate.
Beloit (14-7) was paced by 6-foot-7 Brendon Mason with 22 points and Caydren Cox with 18 points. Cox ignited the Trojans’ 25-5 run with a trio of 3-pointers in the third period. Mason triggered a running clock with 4:24 in the fourth quarter.
Hoisington (9-12) was led by ninth-grader Alex Schremmer with nine points and Braxton Donovan, Brenner Dovovan and Tyler Specht with six apiece.

INGALLS — Three Western Plains girls scored in double figures to edge past the Pawnee Heights girls 43-34 in the Class 1A-Div. 2 Ingalls basketball substate. Western Plains (3-15) plays No. 1 seed Otis-Bison (16-4) in Thursday’s semifinals.
Pawnee Heights (4-16) was led by Shana Ditges with 11 points. The Tigers were outscored 15-1 in the game-deciding second period.
