Cards Brandon Ball wins third straight 3-1A state title

HAYS — Put it down as a three-peat.
Hoisington High School’s Brandon Ball is a Class 3-1A State Wrestling Tournament champion — again.
Brandon roared through the 132-pound weight class to lead Hoisington, which finished in fifth place with 75 points.
Norton won the team title with 127 points. Rossville finished in second place at 81, and Beloit scored 80 points for third place.
Brandon Ball went 4-0 in the two-day competition, getting three pins.
He topped T.J. Ragnoni of Bennington in the championship match, getting the pin in 38 seconds.
His only non-fall win was a 9-0 major decision in the semifinal round against Silver Lake’s Hunter Howerton.
Avery Urban (195) fell against Quentin Clark of Minneapolis 3-2 in a third-place match.
Jonathan Ball, in his first state tournament, finished in fifth place at 138, defeating Willy Dieckmann of Atchison 5-2.
