HAYS — Competing against 22 teams, the Hoisington High School wrestling team took fourth place at the Bob Kuhn Classic over the weekend.
Their tournament finish was the highest in school history with 150 points.
The Cardinals, who are ranked No. 7 in Class 3-1A in the latest Kansas Wrestling Coaches Association poll, were led by Chance Demel (145-pounds), who was seeded fourth, and Eric Hellerud (182), who was seeded seventh.
Both Demel and Hellerud finished in first place in their respective weight classes.
Hellerud is ranked fourth in his weight class.
Brandon Ball (120), who is ranked fourth, finished in third place. Cody Batt (220), who is ranked third, also finished in third.

HAYS — Larned’s Kalden Reed finished with a 3-2 record in the 220 weight class.
The Indians finished in 18th place with 35.5 points.
Ashton Glover competed in the 285 weight class and finished with a 1-2 record.
