ELLSWORTH — The Central Plains Oilers captured the Ellsworth Round-Robin Tournament with a 5-0 record. The Oilers outlasted Class 4A-Division 2 Nickerson 20-25, 25-20, 25-21 for first place.
The Oilers (8-0) have won 52 consecutive matches dating back to last year’s Class 2A state championship. Ellinwood (9-4) won two matches, beating Republic County 25-23, 25-13 and Ellsworth 25-21, 25-18.
