Central Plains wins Ellsworth Invitational

ELLSWORTH — Central Plains High School’s boys’ tennis team won the Ellsworth Invitational on Tuesday evening.
The Oilers finished with 58 points, edging Salina South, which had 57 points.
Hoisington finished fourth with 40 points, Ellinwood claimed sixth with 18 points and Larned placed seventh with 14 points.
Central Plains’ Layne Bieberle won the No. 1 singles competition.
Michael Ryan won the No. 2 singles division for the Oilers, Meritt Hammeke and Carson Kirmer combined for third in the No. 1 doubles division and Tyler Bailey and Michael Lamatsch placed fourth in the No. 2 doubles competition.
Hoisington’s Cameron Davis finished second as the Cardinals’ No. 1 singles player.
Evan Smith and Austin McHenry placed fourth in the No. 1 doubles division.
