Dighton topples Lady Cougars

OTIS — The Otis-Bison High School girls’ basketball team just could not keep up with Dighton on Tuesday night, in spite of a game-high 21 points from Hannah Bannister.
The Lady Hornets outscored the Lady Cougars 13-5 in the third quarter to take a 32-20 lead into the final eight minutes.
Bannister scored all of Otis-Bison’s points in both the first quarter and the third.
The Lady Cougars (4-10) travel to Central Plains on Tuesday night.

Smith Center 63,
Hoisington 35
HOISINGTON — It didn’t look good for Hoisington from the outset as the Lady Cardinals fell behind 24-4 after eight minutes.
Jordin Greer led Hoisington (5-7) with nine points.
Rylie Koester and Presley Smith each added eight for the Lady Cardinals.
Hoisington travels to Thomas More Prep Marian in Hays on Thursday.

Norwich 71, Macksville 45
PRATT — Macksville fell behind 16-5 after one quarter in the first round of the Pratt-Skyline 54 Girls’ Classic on Tuesday evening.
The No 8-seeded Lady Mustangs were able to outscore No. 1 seed Norwich 18-17 in the third quarter, but couldn’t make up the difference in the loss.
Mindy Wood led Macksville (2-8) with 13 points.
The Lady Mustangs face Cunningham in a second-round game on Thursday at 5 p.m.

BOYS
Hoisington 61,
Smith Center 42
HOISINGTON — Leading 19-13 after one quarter, the Hoisington Cardinals stepped up its defense, holding Smith Center to four points in the second for a 33-18 lead at intermission.
Anthony Broeder led Hoisington with 19 points.
Cody Stetler added 13, and Ryan Becker scored 11.

Dighton 43, Otis-Bison 4
OTIS — The close game did not turn Otis-Bison’s way, as it got outscored 18-15 in the final quarter to fall to 5-9 on the season.
Dylan Wissman led with 14 points as the only Cougars player in double figures.
Otis-Bison post player Tyler Maier added eight points.
