ELLINWOOD — Ellinwood’s Ryan Niles scored the game-winning run for a 4-3 victory that completed a baseball sweep of the Great Bend Legion Braves Monday. Niles pinch ran for Brayden Moore, who was hit by Trevor DeLong’s pitch. Niles scored when Tyler Knop’s groundball was misplayed.
Ellinwood (9-7-1) plays at Lincoln Thursday. The Braves (7-21) will play next in a Class A Zone Tournament in Great Bend.
ELLINWOOD 13, BRAVES 3 — Ellinwood’s Brady Stephenson drove home four runs to spark a 13-3 first-game victory. Stephenson doubled home Kyler Doll and Levi Swenson in the first inning.
Stephenson singled home Swenson in a four-run second inning. Woodson Corbett scored on a wild pitch and David Hammeke and Doll scored on errors for a 6-0 lead.
Great Bend’s Will Linenberger singled home Layton Holden and Trevor DeLong singled home Jayce Kohls in a three-run third inning. Linenberger scored on a walk.
Ellinwood’s Swenson doubled home Niles and Doll and Stephenson and Niles drilled RBI hits in a six-run third inning. Luke Wondra scored on an error and Stephenson stole home for a 12-3 lead. Doll’s single scored Corbett for a 13-3 run-rule victory.
ELLINWOOD 4, BRAVES 3 — Brady Stephenson pitched 4 1/3 innings with five strikeouts to preserve a 4-3 victory.
The Braves led 3-0. Linenebrger singled home Holden twice and Caden Bieker singled home Linenberger for a 3-0 lead after three innings.
Stephenson singled home Swenson and Johanning singled home Stephenson in a two-run fourth inning, Hammeke scored on a fifth-inning error for a 3-3 tie.
