Ellinwood's girls lose to Kinsley in 2A semifinals

GREENSBURG – Ellinwood’s girls dug a 7-point hole that the Eagles could never overcome in a 51-45 loss to Kinsley in Friday’s Class 2A Greensburg basketball substate. Kinsley played No. 1 ranked Central Plains in Saturday’s championship game.

Madison Ward scored 20 second-half points and Brittney Beck scored 15 points with solid passing. Ellinwood scored 37 second-half points off 16 of 22 shooting. Beck’s passing led to Ward’s 20-point second half.

Every time Ellinwood rallied, the Coyotes  responded with an offensive score. Kinsley’s Scout Frame scored 19 points and Rylee Gleason added 13 points.

The Eagles were unable to overcome an 8-point first half with 18 turnovers. Ellinwood scored four times on 34 first-half possessions.
