ANDOVER — Andover High School football coach Tony Crough, a former Great Bend football coach, has accepted an assistant coaching position at Hutchinson Community College, according to the Wichita Eagle. Crough will coach with Rion Rhoades at Hutchinson Community College.
Crough said he will leave his coaching and teaching duties at the end of the school year. He led the Trojans to a 6-4 record and a playoff victory. Andover beat Goddard Eisenhower 35-14 for the school’s first playoff victory since 2013. Great Bend defeated Andover 16-7 in the second round of the 2016 Class 5A football playoffs. Andover had finished with a 1-8 record in 2015.
Crough coached Great Bend for two seasons and led the Panthers to a 7-3 record and the Class 5A state playoffs in 2015. Maize South defeated Great Bend 26-14 in the Class 5A playoffs.
Andover High athletic director Brett Riedy said the search for a replacement will begin immediately.
