McPHERSON — The Great Bend High School girls’ tennis team placed seventh out of nine teams at the McPherson tournament on Thursday.
“There were a lot of state qualifiers there,” GBHS head coach Shannon Schartz said. “There was a lot of good talent there. Misty did a good job filling in and Addison played well.
“Our doubles team both did well, too.”
The Lady Panthers were led by Macy Moyers and Morgan Francis, who combined to win the doubles competition, going 4-0.
“Moyers and Francis, they started slow on the day, and just got better and better,” Schartz said. “In the finals against last year’s 4A state champions, they played the best they’d played all day.
“They kind of dominated. They got out to a three-game lead before McPherson got a game. Then we went on to win it.”
Taylor Huslig and Carly Boyd also competed in the doubles competition, placing 13th going 3-2.
Addison Westhoff finished 14th with a 1-3 record on the day.
Misty Wittig placed 16th at 1-4.
