The Great Bend Panther boy’s swim team came home with its third consecutive first place finish by winning a quadrangular meet in Hutchinson on Tuesday. Great Bend scored 394 points to win the meet and was followed closely by Rose Hill (340 points), and Hutchinson (330 points) Hutchinson Central Christian rounded out the scoring with 14 points.
Top finishers for the team were the 200 Medley Relay of Phane Pedigo, Antoine Filipo, Dawson Clark, and Isaac Panzer (2nd place), Josh Schridde in the 50 freestyle and 100 freestyle events (2nd place), Cole Pierce in the 500 Freestyle (2nd place), Brady Daniel in the 100 Backstroke (2nd), and Antoine Filipo in the 100 Breaststroke (2nd).  The 400 Freestyle Relay of Panzer, Ryan Romine, Cory Harbaugh, and Schridde also finished in 2nd place.
“Our depth has really been our strength so far this season, and as our younger swimmers continue to improve and develop it should only get better,” commented Head Coach Steve Beaumont. “We had a few swimmers make some nice time improvements, but overall our times weren’t really great today. We were solid, though, and our relays continue to place and score well for us”.
The win in Hutchinson follows the team’s win at their own Great Bend Invitational against seven teams, and a win at the Salina Invite to start the season. “Hopefully we can stay healthy through the Christmas break and pick up where we left off. Our team has been working extremely hard the past few weeks and I think our times reflected that. We swam tired today”, added Beaumont.
The next meet for the Panther swimmers is Jan. 7, at the BCC pool. The team will be hosting a dual meet against Haysvillle Campus. Starting time is 4 p.m.
